Geek Out

So I may have misspoke slightly. It's not that this is the most 'hands-off' managerial style I've had, it is certainly the most "So I need to know the status of this document, I am going to track you down for five minutes" style however. I've been slowly making my way through the files. Want to learn a lot about a new subject? Go through their Archives. Today, I had a folder of all maps, and while I knew not all types of maps we were keeping, a) I do not yet know enough about the types of maps to make a decision, and b) even if I did know enough, my supervisor still wants to make the final decision. There was one map showing seismic data, including the time recorded happened. That one was cool. And watching my supervisor geek out over it on a whole different level from me was seriously awesome. Archives and Geology meet. We kept that one.

I've also been researching a third party service to try to help find articles. It would integrate with our Databases. Today, they finally got us a price quote. I forwarded it, but it is unlikely we are getting it, now that I have the price. Perhaps they are amazing, but not for the price tag. Perhaps negotiation can be had.

How are you spending Thanksgiving? Headed to see family tomorrow. Hope everyone who is celebrating enjoys the holiday!

  1. Watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Dog Show on TV. Ate Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning, and went out for dinner later in the day. The Friends group at my public library had a book sale the Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, so I went to that for a bit on Friday while Adrian worked.

    1. Sounds fantastic! And surprisingly, very similar to my early day. Once I was safely ensconced at my mother's, the remainder of the morning/early afternoon was spent eating a cinnamon role, watching the parade and dog show.
