Moving List!
The last few days have included researching movers. I think I've narrowed it down to three. One I worked for in my first post-college job. It helps if only because I understand the differences between binding and non-binding contracts, and when they give me a quote for free storage over the Thanksgiving break, I know to demand those sort of things in writing.
We've also brought multiple boxes, mostly books, boardgames, and my knitting supplies, to store at mother's. We will be picking those up at Thanksgiving to bring to our new home.
I forgot how much I hate moving. This is also the first time I have needed to hire movers to move. Every other time, I have moved, it has been withing the Boston-area, so it has been as simple has renting a U-HAUL and/or bribing friends. Well, I am still bribing friends for this move to help with packing, but still.
I give you the list of things still to do:
-Pick up change of address forms
-Pack Kitchen, also determine how to get pot, pan, spatula, and perhaps tea kettle into my checked bags when flying to new home and hope no one raises too much an eyebrow
-Pack Clothes
-Remove dressers and desk out to trash
-Bring clothes and other items to Goodwill
-Remove wall hangings, determine which of those we can pack, and which will need extra care
Thankfully, based on how we will be scheduling the move, C. will still be here to see to any of the small things left, and to arrange the pick up of our stuff. Still. I am rather hoping we do not need to do this again for quite the while.

Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Packing turned into a bit more of a hassle than I think either of us realized, certainly not before I left, but it worked out! :)
